At The School of Engineering, an opportunity has become available for two full time English teachers, to work with our 16–18-year-old Engineering students, at The Printworks campus. Our ideal candidate will be able to deliver engaging, innovative and creative English lessons that incorporate Engineering and motor vehicle concepts. We are a department that nurture and develop those new to teaching as well as more experienced teachers.

What You Will Do
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Be responsible for recording student progress.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area.
About You
  • Must have a  L5 Teaching Qualification  (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) and a relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject - English.
  • Up to date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
  • Previous experience of delivering teaching in relevant subject areas (PGCE teaching placements/experience would also qualify here) which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles.
  • Experience of positively managing student progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting
  • Experience of setting appropriate SMART targets to ensure progression of learners 
  • Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching across identified modules
  •  Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum
  • Exceptional verbal /written communication and interpersonal skills
