Non- Executive Director and Chair of the Group Audit and Risk Committee of Broadland Housing Association

Remuneration – £7,000 per annum
Time commitment – on average 1.5 days a month
Location – Most Board and Committee meetings take place in Norwich.

 

We are looking to recruit a Chair of Group Audit and Risk. As Chair you will lead a skilled committee, harnessing their contributions to ensure that our approach to business assurance is robust and active across Broadland Housing and its subsidiaries. With strong chairing skills you will be comfortable in whole committee leadership and provide incisive and clear advice.

We recognise that diversity of backgrounds, circumstances and experiences are key to good governance.  We therefore welcome candidates who will help bring fresh perspectives to our discussions and to understanding and meeting the needs of our residents. 

You will have the ability to be a credible ambassador for Broadland Housing and be able to engage with tenants, employees and other stakeholders.

 

About us

Broadland is a traditional charitable housing association working in Norfolk and North Suffolk.  We were set up in 1963 and our primary purpose is to help families and individuals in housing need access high quality affordable homes in Norfolk and North Suffolk. We currently look after over 5,400 homes and are actively building more homes to address the region’s housing crisis. 

We are committed members of Homes for Cathy, the coalition of over 100 housing associations committed to ending homelessness, and actively work to find solutions locally. 

We are committed to sustainability. We have been participating in the SHIFT assessments by Suss Housing since 2012 and our last four awards have been Gold.  We have been awarded the “Certified Sustainable Housing Label” from RITTERWALD, ratifying our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials.

 

About our Board

Our Board comprises the Group Chief Executive and up to 11 Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) including residents who bring independent oversight, support, and constructive challenge to the Association’s executive team. The Association’s board is complemented by three committees; the Audit and Risk Committee, the People Committee and the Nominations Committee. BHA board members also serve on two of our subsidiary boards, Broadland St Benedicts and Broadland Meridian.

Term

The initial term is three years, and this can be renewed meaning a normal term length of six years, although the Board can extend terms to a maximum of nine years if required.
