Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education.  We have a co-educational community of over 500 students aged from 6-18, who are predominantly full boarding and are drawn from over 40 countries.

Gordonstoun is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified brass teacher to join the music department. The brass teacher will work across the junior and senior schools, teaching individual students in addition to running ensembles and supporting the junior school instrumental curriculum. The successful candidate will also prepare students for examinations (ABRSM, Trinity, etc) and for performance both in and out of the school.

You will bring a wealth of experience as a performing musician and educator, a positive, can-do approach and a proven track-record of inspiring students to achieve excellence. You will have experience in teaching across a wide range of ages and abilities, always striving to help students achieve their very best. Ideally, the brass teacher will have good keyboard skills, though non-keyboard players should not be discouraged from applying.

The music department encourages music making and performance across the junior and senior schools. The junior school instrumental curriculum ensures that all students have the chance to learn an instrument and, as a result, a large number of individual music lessons are taught each week.  Concerts of all kinds are staged regularly. There are informal lunchtime concerts on a weekly basis to enable students to practise performing in front of a small friendly audience and more formal evening concerts occur regularly throughout the year. Gordonstoun musicians have performed at many high-profile events, including the Braemar Highland Games. In recent years, several students have gone on to study music at university or conservatoire.

Gordonstoun is striving to build a team that is truly inclusive. We welcome applications from marginalised and under-represented groups.
