Landmarc Support Services is currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative at West Tofts Camp in Thetford, Norfolk

As the Training Area Operative, you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train, this pivotal role is essential to the delivery of the contract.

We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working on the Defence Training estate or someone who is keen to learn new skills and bring an enthusiastic willingness to learn, Landmarc will provide full training for the successful applicant.

This role is a fixed term contract, supporting Military training at the UK largest training estate Salisbury Plain. The role would appeal to someone who likes working outside as part of a small team or on his or her own

You will be required to work flexibly over the course of a 37 hour working week. You will be required to work some weekends, this is reflected in our Variable Days Allowance.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of training area operative are to ensure that the training estate facilities and ranges are fit for purpose in accordance with the allocation, NTEP and ensure compliance with customer requirements.

Preparing training areas for use

Preventative maintenance

Grounds maintenance

Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training will be provided)

Manufacturing and deploying targetry

Housekeeping

Cleaning of range facilities

Driving and operating fleet vehicles

Warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights

Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate

To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery e.g

Handover / take back of facilities and or ranges with service users and

Completing the relevant handover documentation 

The Employers representatives regarding training area safety and usage

Direct, support and advising training estate users both civilian and military

To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge of Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work

Experience as a range/ training area user (not essential)

Experience of communicating with customers

Basic labouring, caretaking and housekeeping skills

Ability to complete documentation

Basic IT skills
