We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Food and Non Food Product Technologist to join our Product and Trading Standards team. With our ever growing product range, this is an important role in a team that is responsible for ensuring the products we sell are safe, compliant with current legislative requirements and quality standards, and aligned with our risk appetite. 

You will focus on achieving approval for products using our in-house Portal system. We are looking for someone who is experienced in product safety regulatory compliance work in a retail environment, and can support the Buying team and designers throughout product development and existing product reviews.

Job Overview
  • Management of Own Brand Food Launches, including specifications, label checks, artwork approval and suitable due diligence actions.
  • Identify the relevant safety, testing and certification requirements for general consumer products.
  • Ensure timely review, recording and resolution of product safety and quality related issues e.g. product recalls
  • Support the Buying team throughout new product development and existing product reviews
Minimum Criteria To Apply
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in product safety regulatory and compliance work, preferably in retail
  • Knowledge of food safety and labelling legislation, good communication and practical risk assessment skills.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of general and specific product safety legislation and safety standards
  • Experience of working with Buyers and Designers on new product development
  • Experience of process development and management
  • A degree/HND in a technical or related field or an equivalent technical qualification
  • Technical expertise in relevant products areas
