Assistant Finance Manager

Saga Cruise are looking for 6-month FTC for an Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance team during a busy trading period.  

It’s a great opportunity, an immediate start, for an Assistant Finance Manager who can pick up the process of our technical reporting and controls.   

In this role you will support the Finance Manager with all financial reporting and control activities for Saga Cruise.

** This is a FTC for 6 months. You can mostly work from home, your main working hub will be Ashford, Kent. Ideally you will visit your hub twice a week. You will need to be withing reasonable commuting distance to our Ashford Hub. **

Main Responsibilities

You will be required to cover the following areas;

  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
  • Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and first line review
  • Support drafting statutory accounts, as well as consolidated travel accounts and first point of contact for external auditor queries
  • Preparation of regulatory returns (CAA/ABTA reporting)
  • Submission of actual results and forecast into the group consolidation system (Cognos Controller experience beneficial)
  • IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 journal posting and support across the Cruise function
  • Ad-hoc management accounting tasks at month end
  • Supporting other requests, such as coordinating financial due diligence checks for potential suppliers
  • Assist with implementing process improvement and proactively progressing/coordinating any actions
  • Support the testing and implementation of a new General Ledger system
The Ideal Candidate

We need the Assistant Finance Manager covering this role to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

  • Have previously worked at Assistant Finance Manager level or above
  • Be full or part qualified; ACCA or CIMA
  • Be a proficient user across all MS Office applications
  • Can demonstrate the ability to pick up the process quickly and learn new systems
  • Have strong communication skills, have been one of the primary points of contact within a small finance team and can confidently communicate directly with customers
  • Have a high level of accuracy and the ability to self-review is key
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple work streams and to cope under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to start immediately!
