An opportunity is available for an Operator (Fitting) based at our Redruth (Cornwall) Depot.

As an Operator you will assist a Craftsperson with general site work associated with the repair, maintenance and construction of plant and switchgear up to 33kV. In addition you will be required to undertake substation inspections. Some electrical experience would be an advantage, however full training will be given.

To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

Main Responsibilities

The work involves being away from the depot, normally working in a team of two people. The environment requires you to be able to react quickly, decisively and responsibly. You will also need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting its objectives. The role is suitable for someone who enjoys the demands of a physical outdoor environment.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may also be required to undertake out of hours standby duties, therefore a full driving license is required.

Some electrical experience would be an advantage, however full training will be given.

Please note, where job roles involve working at height and the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment, there are restrictions on the maximum weight of the individual.
