The Agile Delivery Manager is a skilled person who focuses on making things happen, ensuring their teams have everything they need to succeed. They are great at managing stakeholders and are responsible for coordinating across multiple departments to remove any barriers

Responsibilities of the role

  • Facilitate the timely production of software and other computer products through the effective management of team members and work schedules
  • Communicate and resolve any impediments that may slow down progress on a project and set the timelines on which products will be delivered
  • Defining and documenting project scope and resource requirements.
  • Setting timelines for deliverables.
  • Defining and managing priorities against the available capacity of team members
  • Facilitating and leading daily ‘stand up’ meetings
  • Negotiating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Creating a collaborative, innovative and efficient working culture
  • Upholding morale and team performance in challenging circumstances, both direct reports and wider project teams
  • Encouraging regular iteration on deliverables
  • Ensuring the regular delivery of projects and products in accordance with Agile methodologies
  • Use visual means to foster clear communication between delivery teams and various stakeholder groups

Success Measures

  • All appropriate documentation and reporting are upheld
  • Transparency and predictability across your teams using appropriate tool and metrics including story mapping, roadmaps, sprint plans, burn down charts, cycle times, value stream maps and release plans
  • Uses a high level of knowledge and experience of agile development approaches to deliver large complex, group level projects, with the appropriate level of planning, and the right balance of agility and predictability

Experience

  • Experience of working as an agile PM across multiple mature agile product development teams
  • Successfully collaborated with Product, UX, Scrum Master & Engineering in multi-functional teams & across the leadership of these functions
  • Experience of working in agile at scale
  • Demonstrable and numerous examples of learning by doing over learning by certification
  • Recent experience of working with distributed agile teams
  • A proven track record of being value driven rather than project metrics driven (i.e. outcome over output)
  • A solid understanding of software development lifecycle models
  • Excellent knowledge of agile project management principles, practices and experience overseeing multi-function projects teams including developers, testers and business analysts

  • Comfortable having difficult conversations with stakeholders whilst managing their expectations effectively
  • Being comfortable with a flexible plan and applying agile principles to planning and review
  • Understanding the application of agile governance and roles to ensure the project meets its objectives
  • Capable of coordinating, motivating, and establishing team working principles
  • Willing to roll your sleeves up and getting stuck in to support the team
  • Passion for transformational leadership, technology, product development, and fast paced delivery using multi-layer scalable agile and lean mechanisms
  • Good judgement, analytical skills and robust decision-making ability.
  • Stakeholder management with ability to lead and influence colleagues and seniors.
  • Self-awareness to identify own development needs and the desire to continually improve.
  • A confident and concise communication style both written and verbal.
  • Solutions orientated, with the ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
