The purpose of job is to project manage delivery of a major wide area network change for Southeastern Trains (SET).  SET is replacing its existing MPLS network with a Software defined WAN architecture.

 

The Project Manager (PM) shall be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the project throughout its project lifecycle.  A key purpose of the job is shaping the project to drive optimum delivery of stated benefits and desired outcomes.

Working within Southeastern Trains projects methodology, the PM will create a plan and manage delivery of the project to agreed time, cost and quality parameters ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

Main Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Project Board, the PM shall create, mobilise and manage the project from initial planning phase through to completion. The PM is accountable for generating monthly progress reports and highlighting issues and exceptions.  The PM shall manage project risk within set tolerances.
  • Deliver to the agreed technical, business and cost justifications following project stage gate controls
  • Detailed planning incorporating all dependencies, managing all aspects of RAID (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies)
  • Develop and ensure implementation plans minimise disruption to the business
  • Work with the Network Manager and network team during the project to deliver the change project.
  • Manage supplier implementation of new circuits, ensuring required risk assessments and method statements are in place for site work.
The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role we recommend you demonstrate the below in your application;

  • At least 5 years proven Project Management delivery within IT networking.
  • Excellent understanding of how to deliver technology change within an environment where multiple other change projects are happening at the same time.
  • Fluent delivery using structured Project Methodology and project tool kits      
  • Good standard of education with project management qualifications,  excellent written and verbal skills, able to represent at governance forums and Boards.
