Senior Accountant (Team Manager) Resources

We are looking for an ambitious, motivated individual with a strong blend of financial expertise, leadership and influencing skills to provide financial advice and support primarily to the Resources Directorate which includes HR, Property and ICT Services within the Council.

 

You will hold a role of responsibility and will be managing a high performing team comprising of Accountants and accounting technicians, who provide revenue and capital financial support to budget and project managers across the Directorate.

 

You will play a key part in the successful management, reporting, planning and analysis of financial information.  You will be experienced in financial forecasting, including the ability to develop accurate models, analyse trends, and identify and escalate potential risks and opportunities. 

 

You will be able to confidentially prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior managers, highlighting trends, and areas requiring attention.  You will also provide managers in the services and the finance team with insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

 

This challenging and varied role will require an individual who has:

  • Excellent technical accounting skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable people managem ent or supervisory capabilities
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to listen and empathise
  • Sound judgement with the confidence to make significant decisions
  • Proven ability to deliver against a range of conflicting demands
  • Competent in analysing and investigating complex data and presenting this in a simplified, understandable way to non-financial colleagues
