We’re looking for a Band 5 or Band 6 (depending on experience) Bank Continuing Care Nurse - Nights to join our Wiltshire and BaNES Childrens Continuing Care Nursing service. 

The Children's Continuing Care team works across Wiltshire and BaNES providing night care and support to children who meet Childrens Continuing Care criteria. This includes children and young people with tracheostomies, long term ventilation requirements, enteral feeding and/or other complex heath needs. We provide care in family homes. 

This is a night nurse role where the typical working hours are between 22:00 – 7:00.

Nights can be flexible throughout the week and locations are across Wiltshire and BaNES.

As this is a community based role you will need to have a full UK Driving Licence and access to a car.

Main Responsibilities

As a Bank Children's Community Care Nurse you will:

  • Co-ordinate and lead the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for children/young people and their families/carers
  • Independently carry out nursing procedures and techniques including complex procedures
  • Be a point of contact for families on the Children’s Continuing Care Team and act as a liaison between professionals from all agencies when appropriate
  • Participate in the development of Service specific protocols and guidelines
  • Ensure the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the child/young person are always paramount
  • Actively engage and encourage the involvement of Service Users/Carers in service planning and delivery of care

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NMC Registration as Registered Children’s Nurse
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Teaching and assessing experience in clinical practice
  • Awareness of recent Government initiatives that may affect future clinical practice
  • Community experience
  • Case management experience

It is desirable to have skills in Long Term Ventilation, Tracheostomy management and complex health needs – although training and upskilling sessions can be provided.
