We are seeking an experienced cleaner who will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness within our school. As part of our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all, your contributions will positively impact both our pupils and staff.

The post holder is responsible to the Bursar, through the Cleaning Supervisor, for general cleaning duties within The Compass School. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all areas for which they are responsible are cleaned in readiness for the next day and to reduce the spread of infection

Key Responsibilities: 

Cleaning

  • Carrying out general cleaning and waste disposal duties as required, in line with extant School policies.
  • Ensuring that all areas for which they have responsibility are cleaned to the high standards expected and in line with our infection control measures.
  • Once their area of responsibility is complete, liaise with the Cleaning Supervisor for other tasks.
  • Ensuring that all areas of responsibility are hygienic and visibly clean.

 Managing Resources 

  • Ensure there is sufficient stock of cleaning equipment and supplies within their area of responsibility.
  • Report any issues they identify relating to equipment such as damage or excessive wear and tear.

 Health and Safety  

  • To ensure adherence to procedures related to Health and Safety with regard to cleaning tasks.
  • To ensure equipment is always used in a safe manner.
  • To ensure that necessary repairs to equipment are reported immediately and repairs arranged, unsafe equipment is to be taken out of use pending repair.

General Responsibilities 

  • To work co-operatively and positively with all members of the cleaning staff.
  • To promote the ethos of the School.
  • To possibly assist in our Kitchen in the event of a staff member being temporarily absent.

Terms and Conditions

The person appointed will be party to a Contract of Employment between him/herself and the Governors of The Compass School.

Pay is paid monthly in arrears.

Hours of work are:

                                         Monday         16:00 – 18:00

                                         Tuesday        16:00 – 18:00

                                         Wednesday   16:00 – 18:00

                                         Thursday      16:00 – 18:00

                                         Friday           16:00 – 18:00

Additional hours may be available from time to time both during term time and during holidays to support Holiday clubs and other activities that take place on the premises. 

The appointment is subject to a PVG check with Disclosure Scotland.

Up to 5 years of work references may be requested.

The Compass School is a non-smoking campus.
