Autism Anglia is a well-established independent charity. We have opportunities available for Support Workers on a full-time and part-time basis. Working from our Norfolk Campus in Whitstone and Walnut Houses in Dereham The successful Support Worker will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum and enable them to maximize their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The Support Worker will work as part of a team to help those in your care to help them achieve their own life plans, through a person-centred approach.

Autism Anglia is dedicated to providing ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.


The role: 

  • Working in partnership with the team to provide a strengths-based, outcome-focusedpsychological approach for all individuals.
  • Maintain the dignity, respect and privacy of each individual supported by assisting them with personal care, health and hygiene-related activities, which may involve sport and leisure, cultural and recreational activities including day trips, short breaks or holidays.
  • Assist individuals with communication support tasks, phycological monitoring, or intervention and sensory support tasks.
  • Ensure that the quality of support given meets the identified need m and that all relevant documentation is regularly reviewed, evaluated and amended as necessary.
  • Keep up-to-date and clear and accurate records and support plans/ risk assessments to reflect each individual’s requirements.
  • Know, understand and work within Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults procedures, ensuring all concerns are acted on and dealt with according to policy and procedure

  • Ability to manage emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours.
  • Ability to identify the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.
  • Experience in working with people with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
  • Experienced with activity co-ordination, knowledge of opportunities in surrounding areas
  • Good range of communication skills
  • It is highly desirable that you hold a clean driving licence with at least two years of driving experience
  • Experience working within a health and social care environment
