The lead renal technologist is responsible for managing technical operations for shared care
and home dialysis program. The role will aid the Technical Operations Manager in running
the renal technical service by providing leadership in assigned areas, working closely with
clinicians and nursing management to support Trust in delivering better care.

Key Accountabilities

Provide a comprehensive service ensuring all equipment within the department is
fully operational and maintained to the highest standard.
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement program for the department.
Collaborate closely with home therapy team, clinicians and other medical staff to
resolve complex issues and deliver a seamless service as per standards.
Review, develop and roll-out procedures to maintain standards as per Renal
Association Guidelines under the guidance of Technical Operations Manager.
Contribute with other lead technologists to deliver in-house training and development
program.
Maintain compliance throughout as per technical committee recommendations.
Maintain close links with manufacturers, suppliers and agents to manage complex
issues, parts inventory, work progress, vehicle maintenance and verification of
invoices etc.

Qualifications
Degree/HDN/HNC in Electronic Engineering in related
subject or equivalent experience.
Formal education in renal technology, preferably at degree
level. Formal IT training in Microsoft Office programs.
Registered as Clinical Technologist on RCT (IPEM)

Skills
• Possess a full UK (Manual) driving licence
• Able to use Excel, Word etc. to set up documents and
spread sheets and extract information, experience of using
equipment management database or similar.
• Able to use fine tools for equipment adjustment/assembly.
• Able to handle medium loads within safe limits.
• Able to concentrate for long periods to allow accurate
working
• Able to deal with emotionally challenging circumstances
when working in clinical areas (e.g. when visiting wards and
homes fault finding on patient connected equipment).
• Able to train groups of professional staff & patients in the
use of medical equipment
• Able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations
• Able to motivate colleagues and act with confident authority
when the situation requires.
