We have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join our Financial Control team, for an 18-month placement.

What you’ll be doing
As one of 3 Senior Financial Accountants in the team your role will provide senior support to the Financial Control Leaders in the co-ordination and the production of the monthly management accounts ensuring the quality control over financial transactions, making sure key inputs are appropriately generated, recorded and reviewed in line with internal policies, accounting standards and best practice to guarantee the accuracy of the accounts.
Provide technical expertise in the more complex areas of the production of the Society’s annual and interim Financial Statements. Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, identifying improvements to ensure a smooth audit process
Accurate maintenance of the Societies fixed asset register and lease accounting database, in line with accounting requirements. Responsible for the review of the internal accounting policies and procedures.
Provide senior technical expertise in the research on technical accounting developments and integration of new accounting requirements, liaising with the external auditors to confirm the relevant accounting treatment.
Support the Financial Control Leaders in the development and documentation of the more complex business processes, policies and procedures and ensure these are up to date with a strong understanding of operational risks relevant to Financial Control. Identify new controls if necessary, ensuring escalation policies are followed to maintain a strong control framework that is in line with industry practises.
Production of the more complex regulatory reporting and provide senior support for new requirements / assumptions reviews.
Review the outputs produced by more junior members of the team and aid with day-to-day activities as required.
What you’ll bring
Recognised professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA/CIMA/ACA
A proven ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written to influence/direct others at an appropriate level.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships both within the team and the wider business in order to achieve objectives.
High level of attention to detail and delivery of effective Business Requirements.
Enthusiasm and self-motivation to provide excellent service
Sound knowledge of the Microsoft suite particularly Excel.
Knowledge of Workday, beneficial but not required
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience of planning and organising own work to ensure a focus on priorities and achievement of deadlines.
Experience of supporting team members through sharing knowledge and expertise.
A proven track record of accounting and finance experience.
