We are currently looking for an Shift Manager to join our friendly team based at Tunstead in Buxton.

Main Responsibilities

In the role of Shift Manager you will be responsible for leading a Cement plant shift team with a focus on safety, effective team working and continuous improvement both within and outside of the shift team. You will also be responsible for:

  • Coordinating shift production of raw meal, ground coal, clinker and cement and ensure the effective despatch of products to meet customer, quality, environmental and production requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner. 
  • Accountable for the safe operation of the Cement plant during allocated shift.
  • Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant.  This involves night working, weekend, and Bank holidays and being on call if necessary.
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Shift Manager will have experience of: 

  • Engineer/Technical/process qualification to an NVQ level 3 or equivalent

  • IOSH certification

  • Supervisory qualification - ILM

  • Good appreciation of chemistry and physics of cement/chemical making process

  • Kiln operations certification - Cement Manufacturing

  • Extensive knowledge of cement manufacturing process and equipment technology.

  • Can demonstrate a track record in promoting safe working in the organisation with a good awareness of safety, quality and environmental issues

  • Maintenance practices and requirements
