We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team based in Birmingham working on a hybrid basis.

Main Responsibilities

To contribute to the provision and reporting of effective financial information and management accounting at each month end.

This includes the following:

Balance sheet reconciliations, partnering with BU stakeholders and SSC teams for effective management of balance sheet risk.

Performing tasks associated with the preparation and posting of transactions into the general ledger; adhering to strict timetables

Partners with the Business Units creating an environment of confidence and trust identifies and enables future value added activity.

Responds quickly and completely, in a professional manner, to audit queries 

Specifically, partners closely with the payroll team to understand potential risks and HMRC reporting requirements that impact the balance sheet.

To identify opportunities for continuous improvement driving accuracy and efficiency

The Ideal Candidate

You will ideally be qualified AAT, or Part-Qualified (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) or Qualified by experience (2 years in similar role)

● Analytical / accounting experience in large multi site, construction or manufacturing businesses is highly desirable

● Has worked in Record to Report or similar financial teams

● Has prepared both journals and reconciliations to high standard

● Has experience of external audit

● Has experience of an internal control
