As the specialist email developer for Saga Media, you’ll be responsible for creating and delivering best in class email comms for our audience – working closely with the CRM lead to create a truly engaging, best in class experience for our newsletter subscribers.

The role involves creating exciting and engaging email creatives and coding emails/webpages. It requires previous digital marketing experience with a track record of excellence in email design and execution. .Alongside an understanding of working with branding guidelines and research into best practice in UX, responsive design, email marketing and email deliverability.

Main Responsibilities
  • Developing existing email creatives and producing new engaging designs and templates which will support Saga Media’s editorial and commercial objectives.
  • Coding, bug checking and testing emails to ensure technical quality and that they render correctly across different devices/ESPs
  • Loading designs into Adobe Campaign and resolving any technical issues with both the email and its delivery.
  • Collaborating with the CRM lead and content producers on ideas for digital designs that improve the customer journey and drive conversions.
  • Understanding results and performance, making recommendations to improve future campaigns and user experience, ensuring readers have the best experience when receiving our emails and visiting our website.  
  • Communicating campaign results with stakeholders.
  • Feeding into on-going testing plans for email optimisation on variable devices and platforms and to improve campaign performance.
  • Conducting key competitor research and market analysis, keeping on trend with the latest email developments, techniques, and advancements. Sharing and implementing recommendations and applying benchmarks where appropriate.
  • Taking a proactive role in the development and growth of our e-CRM plans by collaborating with the Saga Media leadership team and the wider Saga marketing community.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to design and code emails quickly and accurately.
  • Design/creative background
  • Experience of working and communicating with multiple stakeholders including marketing, creative and colleagues across the wider business.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills that enable you to make your point clear, build relationships and collaborate effectively in both face-to-face meetings and in written communications.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond quickly to commercial or operational needs.
  • Experience in working in an email marketing or developer role.
  • Ability to code emails and websites in HTML and CSS
  • Proficiency using digital design packages (Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver or similar)
  • Knowledge of email design best practice including responsive design and UX
  • Ability to read/use basic Javascript
  • Understanding of key audiences and digital channels used.
