The role will business partner the Compass’ UKI Climate & Environment Team but will be a part of the Foodbuy Finance team The role will have a strong data and reporting element, to support the business’ Climate work, but the role will have scope to develop into the future as the strategy matures beyond decarbonisation and across the other 6 environmental areas of focus. 

You will work with Compass’ UKI chosen footprint and LCA partner, Foodsteps, on the development of a blueprint for building specialist carbon accountancy capability building primary data, developing quality insight and analysis and then Sharing best practice with the industry and wider Compass Group - in particular its biggest markets, the US, Australia and France – collectively accounting for c.80% of the global Group’s emissions

More about the role:

We are looking for an individual who will support

  • A data cleanse project within Foodbuy; focusing on the integrity of multiple data points across 5,000 suppliers in 75 categories, ensuring we are fit for the future
  • The individual will be responsible for annual reporting on Compass’ Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprint as well as supporting SOFI annual reporting for Compass Group PLC
  • The individual will need to work with the relevant teams, to ensure that data is cleansed to ensure comprehensive carbon reporting
  • The individual will also need to support the build of emissions pipeline for CDMs to track performance and in pursuit of bridging the gap between environmental and commercial KPIs.
  • The individual will need to produce repeatable reporting using tools or data dashboard solutions to ensure we get more efficient in production and scalability
  • They will also need to use the above to support data requirements for MAP1, in particular QBDs, building strong, multi-stakeholder relationships across all six sectors and with each Operational Net Zero lead.
  • The candidate will work closely with the Director for Delivery of Net Zero on submission to the SBTi and record this annually
Who you are:

Experience and skills

Numerical and data skills

  •  We would value a candidate who is highly numerate, with direct experience in emissions calculation and wider sustainability data/reporting
  • An understanding of relevant industry practices and standards for assessing Scope 1-3 emissions is preferred Experience of knowledge of Protocol Standards are helpful, but can be learnt with the support of our Partners
  • The role will require some experience working with large databases and so experience of, or willingness to learn data analytic skills (SQL, APIs etc) is preferred
  • Good understanding and experience of bringing together variable sources into a robust database

Communication and Influence

  • Willingness to develop strong skills in analysing and presenting complex data to many levels across Compass, including board level
  • Ability to communicate confidently to internal and external stakeholder groups and being part of broader forums
  • Ability to work independently, but to seek support as needed from the Foodbuy Finance Leadership team, Foodbuy Exec and Compass UKI Climate & Environment team
  • Experience of accountancy or associated qualification is welcomed, but not a pre-requisite for this role
