Location: Alderley Edge SK9 7UD

37.5 hours per week

Salary: £35,000 - £43,000

(Dependent on qualifications, skills and experience)

This is an exciting opportunity to act as the lead Health and Safety Professional and ensure that David Lewis has robust Health and Safety Policies and a Safety Management System that is effectively implemented in all services throughout the Charity.

The Health and Safety Manager will provide professional advice and support across all sites and services to ensure that David Lewis Health and Safety Policies, framework, systems and practices are in place to enable full legislative compliance and to ensure that we provide a consistently safe environment for residents, students, service users, staff, contractors and visitors.

The successful candidate will:-

  • Hold a relevant qualification in health and safety e.g. diploma recognised by IOSH or NEBOSH and be an IOSH member. 
  • Ideally be able to demonstrate competence in Fire Safety and Risk Assessment.
  • Have a number of years’ experience leading and building a Health and Safety culture, ideally in the health and social care sector. 
  • Demonstrate continuing professional development.  
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current health, safety, fire and environmental legislative and regulatory requirements and the ability to apply these in a practical manner.
  • Demonstrate that they can deliver effective Health and Safety training tailored to audience at all levels of the organisation.
  • Have a successful track records of audit, plan, do, check in relation to organisation wide health and safety.
  • Be IT literate and have a knowledge of Health and Safety incident reporting systems.

David Lewis provides care 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Hence, the post requires occasional working outside of usual business hours.

We have a successful record of accomplishment built up over 100 years with expertise in specialist residential, education, day opportunities and clinical and therapeutic services. Our specialist school and college is part of an education, day opportunities and residential community.

Our School is for 11-19 year olds and rated GOOD by Ofsted. We also have a college onsite for 16-25 year olds with an Ofsted rating of OUTSTANDING Residential services for adults, either living in accommodation at our 165 acres in Warford or in one of our houses in a local town or village in Cheshire.
