The Coventry Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Team is part of the Education and Skills Directorate. The Education and Skills Directorate works with a wide range of partners to enable children, young people and adults to access high quality and inclusive education and learning. Our Values

It’s great to know that you are interested in working with us at Coventry City Council. As a prospective employee, it is important that everyone who works for us is committed to our One Coventry values and shares our commitment to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation.

Our Values are:

What is the job role?

The Coventry Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is an exciting and innovative initiative.  HAF delivers positive free activities, experiences, food and food education to children and young people in the Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays. Over 4,000 children plus family members benefit from up to 120 different activities, delivered by over 50 different organisations.  Eligible children include those on free school meals and other criteria. HAF also provides information to support families, particularly in the context of the cost-of-living situation.

We have a small core team facilitating this partnership and we are looking to appoint a Project Support Officer. This role is varied and includes: building effective relationships with HAF providers, enabling the HAF programme systems to function effectively and co-ordinating our marketing approach. The role also works with other teams across our Education and Skills directorate.

HAF is funded by the Department of Education. Funding is committed to 31 March 2025, and so this reflects that the contract is currently fixed-term until 31 March 2025.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about achieving the outcomes of HAF. This is coupled with someone with strong inter-personal skills to work with a range of stakeholders (including parents/carers, providers, partner organisations etc.) and who is well-organised and systematic in their approach.  The HAF programme has established good foundations and we want the successful candidate to join us in developing the programme further. This will contribute to building the national case for government to sustain this significant programme beyond 2025.
