URL for Applications:Apply HereSalary:£29,291 per annum

The starting salary for this role is £29,291 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

This role is open to remote working meaning you won’t be required to be in the office 5 days a week, but will however need to be available to attend meetings and site visits as and when necessary.

Are you looking for a new start or a change in direction in 2023?

The Highways and Transport service sits within the Environment, Transportation and Infrastructure Directorate and is responsible for ensuring the effective management, maintenance and improvement of all highway and transport assets, with the highway itself being the most valuable and regarded by Members and residents as one of the most important services provided by the Council. The service operates in an environment with significant political engagement and has daily contact with MPs, Cabinet members, backbench Members and committees and you will be accountable to elected Members and residents to explain decisions and actions.

As a parking engineering technician, you would be joining a small, friendly team responsible for all things related to on street parking in Surrey. As well as providing support and assistance to the rest of the team, you will have a leading role in dealing with applications for disabled parking bays and access protection markings across the county, including carrying out site visits and assessments.

Although some knowledge of the legislation and regulations relevant to on street parking would be useful, it is not a necessity. This is an opportunity to start a career in the world of parking and highways, and in order to be considered for shortlisting, we would like to know about your:

  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • ability to manage your time and workload
  • attention to detail
  • strong IT skills, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • relevant knowledge or willingness to learn

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
