An opportunity is available for a Vehicle Technician based in Kettering. In this role you will help to ensure the vehicle fleet is maintained with minimum downtime to enable the fleet to be operated in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible.

Our Transport teams ensure that the National Grid fleet operation is on the road 24/7, 365 days a year. In this role you will help to ensure the vehicle fleet is maintained with minimum downtime to enable the fleet to be operated in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Day to day management of own workload including liaising with customers.
  • Routine maintenance of all vehicles, including heavy goods.
  • Repairing and maintaining plant trailers and ancillary equipment.
  • Arranging repairs and maintenance with contracted suppliers.
  • Preparing and presenting vehicles for annual testing.
  • Road testing and diagnosing vehicle faults.
  • Ordering of parts as required for the maintenance and repair of the Transport fleet.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a qualified and time served Vehicle Technician and hold the appropriate NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification. A full driving license is essential for this role and holding a valid LGV (Class C) driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be provided to the successful candidate.

Alongside a good approach to customer service you will have the ability to work well by yourself as well as working within a team environment. You will be able to consistently maintain high quality standards and work within given timescales.
