An opportunity is available for a Craft Attendant based at our Midsomer Norton depot. Working across the network wherever needed.
The successful candidate will be required to contribute with the repair, replacement, construction and alteration of assets. Progression opportunities may be available for someone who demonstrates a desire to learn and undertake new tasks, contingent on prevailing business need.
The work involves being away from the depot, working in and around the Midsomer Norton area, often in a team of two people. The environment requires you to be able to react quickly, decisively and responsibly. You will also need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting its objectives. It’s physical work and you'll be out in all weathers, sometimes dealing with customers and always assisting a Craftsperson.
You might be maintaining tools, equipment, materials, making sure the van is stocked up with tools and equipment and is in a safe condition, putting up signs, preparing the site and assessing risks but always working safely. While you’ll usually be part of a team of two, you will also work with a wide variety of professionals, including managers, planners, technicians and contractors.
Progression opportunities may be available for someone who demonstrates a desire to learn and undertake new tasks. This will be dependent on business need.
To apply, you’ll need to have English GCSE (1-9 / G-A) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in this subject, such as Functional Skills.
Evidence of your qualification will be required prior to appointment.

You'll need a willingness to work outside as this role is suitable for someone who enjoys the demands of a physical outdoor environment. You will need good basic technology skills and to be able to communicate confidently with colleagues and customers.
You will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake out of hours standby duties, therefore a full driving licence is desirable.
Some electrical experience or an electrical qualification would be an advantage.
