An opportunity has become available for a Trading Recharge Specialist within the NGED South Wales, Licence area. Hybrid working is available for this role.

NGED Trading Recharge provide contracting services for Customer owned private electricity distribution networks and specialise in the Design, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of such networks.


Reporting to the Trading Recharge Team Manager, the Trading Recharge Specialist will be responsible for the project management, planning, installation and commissioning of electrical plant and apparatus (including specialist non-standard equipment) on Customer owned underground and overhead networks.

As part of our hybrid working approach and in line with our policy, this role allows you to apply for a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

Candidates must hold a City & Guilds 2339 - Level 3 or equivalent. A HNC - level 4 or above in Electrical Engineering is essential.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. 

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main Responsibilities

The specific main tasks include:-

  • Preparation of quotations for construction, maintenance and augmentation type works on Customer owned private networks.
  • Preparation of Operation & Maintenance agreements for private networks.
  • Organisation and financial monitoring of Trading Recharge and Large Recharge Projects.
  • The raising, managing and closure of purchase orders, invoices and Large Recharge Projects.
  • Raising and managing Crown Enquiries to support projects and IDNO faults.
  • Providing support and guidance to NGED staff and owners of private distribution networks.
  • Working with others within NGED including Policy, Engineering Design, Planners, Network, Cable and Protection Specialists and NGED Network Services staff as required.
  • Arranging and undertaking meetings with Customers in person and virtually.
  • Ensuring the highest levels of Safety are maintained and supported through the preparation of job specific Risk Assessment and Method Statements and complying with CDM regulations appropriate to the project. 
  • Providing excellent customer service.
The Ideal Candidate

A highly motivated individual, you must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines.

A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously are also essential.

In addition, although predominantly covering the NGED South Wales area, you will need to be mobile throughout the whole NGED area and therefore applicants should hold a full UK driving licence.  You may be required to undertake NGED operational standby duties.
