What is the job role?

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to support the Community Safety Team as a full-time Community Safety Officer. 

This role involves working in a small Community Safety Team to coordinate and deal with Community Safety Issues in Coventry.  

This particular role will be focussed on Modern Day Slavery and we will require the person to:-  

  • Lead on Strategic work to obtain a picture of Modern Day Slavery needs in the City and what coordinated action can be taken to address it.
  • to work closely with Department Leads to ensure that the Local Authority is meeting its duty in regard to Modern Day Slavery.
  • Working across multi-agency groups and Co-ordinating actions to address issues of Modern Day Slavery and Adult exploitation.
  • Representing the Community Safety Team at regional groups and Networks in regard to Modern Day Slavery and other Community Safety Issues.     
  • Developing and Co-ordinating training to ensuring that our workforce has a strong awareness of Modern Day Slavery issues.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new team member will an excellent understanding of Community Safety Issues.

  • Strong experience in working in the Community Safety field. We are particularly looking for experience in working in response to Modern Day Slavery issues.
  • A good understanding of the roles and duties the Local Authority has in relation to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. 
  • A passion for supporting victims and driving change to improve the Local Authority response to Community Safety issues.
  • Someone with great organising, co-ordinating, and prioritising skills who has experience of working in partnerships to deliver action to support Community Safety issues.
  • Someone who has great investigative and analytical skills to determine the picture of Community Safety needs such as Modern Day Slavery.
  • A person with good leadership skills to help drive strategy to deliver change in issues to support victims of crime and exploitation.
