About Us

Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales.

Your role

Band 5 Occupational Therapist

Are you a newly qualified (or due to Qualify) Band 5 OT who is passionate about sharing and developing your knowledge and skills in a wholly supportive environment? Do you have bundles of creativity, enthusiasm and a caring nature to support our patients who have Learning Disabilities?

We have the exciting opportunity here at Taunton, where you will be supported to work together with your patients to identify their needs, and to provide evidenced based interventions for the specific needs of each individual. You will become an integral part of the MDT providing an evidence based therapeutic programme through a range of graded activities both within the hospital and in the wider community. We use a variety of different media to support all patients in their journey to independence and have a fully adapted programme for the LD service.

You will also be part of a small Occupational Therapy team, where emphasis is placed fully on supporting and developing you through a comprehensive induction programme, preceptorship, weekly and monthly check-ins and supervisions. At Cygnet we offer a number of development opportunities within the organisation such as clinical development (sensory integration and MOHO, amongst other models of practice) and well as managerial development (leadership pathways).

Service Line: Mental Health Learning Disabilities

Based on our high dependency rehabilitation unit for men with a Learning Disability, the focus is on rehabilitation through a graded pathway. The ward is a small 10 bedded unit; you will be working with and alongside a cohesive, collaborative and supportive MDT consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Associate Doctor, Speech and Language Therapist, Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, Ward Manager, Nursing Staff and support Workers as well as an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
