Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council.  We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;

  • Commissioning Team – we commission and work with a number of providers, to ensure that people with care needs have access to a range of good quality support to enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives
  • Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
  • Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
  • Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
  • Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?

We are recruiting a Service Manager to provide effective leadership and management of services for adults in Coventry. This includes management of our core Occupational Therapy team (interventions such as reablement, equipment, minor works, and major adaptations funded through DFG), Visual and Hearing Impairment Team, Adaptations Team (administering DFG’s),  Blue Badge mobility assessments, and our internally provided Community Equipment Service (delivering Assistive Technology, Telecare, and Minor works).   

You will efficiently and effectively lead and manage services, adhering to appropriate legislation and government guidance, ensuring services meet relevant quality standards, are responsive, personalised, outcome-focused, promote independence, and enhance choice and control of people with care and support needs and carers.

This is an exciting time for Adult Social Care, as OT Service Manager you will lead and contribute to the overall development of service provision in response to new government initiatives, guidance, and legislation.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with a comprehensive knowledge of health and social care services, the National Government agenda, and emerging priorities for the NHS and Social Care.

You will have experience in managing large operational services with health or social care services, the experience of managing complex budgets, and of maintaining services while adhering to tight financial targets.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable to change, committed to delivering personalised outcomes, and has experience in multi/cross-agency working at management level. 

You will have a professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the relevant professional body as well as evidence of personal development and commitment to learning.
