Job Role:

As the Senior Support Worker will be responsible for managing the day staff team, including allocation of duties, supervision and incident management. You will be responsible for ensuring that we are providing high quality care and support to the young people and that we are compliant with CQC regulations. You will be responsible for overseeing the care and support of the students within the accommodations including ensuring that support plans, risk assessments etc. reflect the needs of the students in relation to their day support needs. As part of your role you may also need to assist in supporting young people with personal care needs.

You will work with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure that we are supporting students to achieve their best. You will be responsible for ensuring that staff absence is recorded appropriately and handed over to the night shift. As we are a 24/7 education provider you will ensure that the extended curriculum is being implemented effectively and work with staff to achieve this, you will work with your team to set appropriate targets and to support the team to work towards these.

Candidate Profile:

The Senior Support Worker will be enthusiastic, committed and flexible. You will need to be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met. You should be able to work a four-week rota pattern covering a combination of days, evenings and weekends. A good knowledge of CQC regulations and safeguarding procedures is desirable but full training will be provided. An awareness of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards would be beneficial.

You will be a member of the support team employed to respond effectively and sensitively to the broad ranging and often complex social, emotional, educational and recreational needs of young adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, within their residential environment. Part of your role will be to enhance and facilitate the achievement of high-quality support & education. You will be given training on how to manage behaviours that challenge.

To be offered this role you MUST hold a Level 3 diploma in Health & Social Care.

The College caters for young people and adults, between the ages of 16 – 25, that have autism, additional learning needs and associated complex behaviours across day, 38 and 52 week placements. Successful candidates will be part of a large supportive team who work holistically across Care, Education and Therapeutic services supporting each other’s practice.

From the 11th November 2021 anyone working in a CQC-registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care must have 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.  You will be required to provide evidence of this unless you have a medical exemption, in which case we will require evidence of your medical exemption.
