Job Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join this truly special team. 


This senior role drives the strategic planning framework, working with Board, ExCo and SLT to influence and shape the development of our longer-term strategy and strategic priorities to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage.


What you will be doing


Your main responsibilities will include:


•    Lead the identification of strategic organisational priorities and take a lead role, working with ExCo and SLT in the development and delivery of corporate strategies.
•    Lead the Society in longer term strategy formulation by identifying emerging trends and changes in the external market/environment.
•    Drive the strategic planning framework and ensure that strategic discussions take place with key stakeholders. 
•    Provide guidance, support, challenge and input to key stakeholders ensuring departmental plans are aligned to corporate objectives and priorities. 
•    Own the relationship between high level strategy and the pipeline feed into the Society’s EA and Change teams to ensure ongoing strategic alignment of the change portfolio.
•    Work with the Enterprise Architect to design and deliver the Target Operating Model.
•    Lead strategic reviews across the organisation to generate business scenario’s that make appropriate recommendations to senior management.
•    Ensure that reporting mechanisms and appropriate KPI’s are in place to enable senior management.
•    Facilitate SLT Strategic Priority Working Group meetings to ensure alignment across outputs, actions and owners are agreed.
•    Facilitate ExCo sessions to create, define and deliver a market leading M&S strategy. 
•    Keep fully up to date with the regulatory landscape and how any changes to this may affect our strategic direction being pro-active on research and engagement with external developments.


What you will bring


To succeed in this role you should have the following skills and experience:


•    Extensive experience in strategy development and the analysis and implementation of performance, market and customer information and trends to inform strategic and business planning.
•    Significant strategic planning experience that includes proven ability to influence, develop and deliver strategy based on cross functional insight and analysis.
•    Senior relationship management experience. 
•    Experience facilitating strategic debate and plan up to EXCO / Board Level.
•    Excellent R&D skills interpreting and recommending courses of action based on the latest external thinking.
•    Financial and analytical skills.
•    Ability to plan and organise workloads to ensure a focus on priorities and achievement of key deadlines.
•    Strong understanding of the financial services market including risk and an understanding of current and emerging market trends.
•    Ability to develop holistic approach to the process of strategic and corporate planning.
•    Worked across a range of businesses, in terms of their size and the nature of their business model.
