We’re looking for a Senior Non Functional Tester to join our Engineering & Assurance Team to test features in production-like environments to stress the systems with real-life data loads and synthetic scenarios of peak projections.

This role is also responsible for making sure Non-functional parameters are tested and comply with the requirements defined by Architecture, Service and SRE. Testing real case scenarios at the component and E2E levels to prevent issues, including but not limited to Performance testing, Scalability Testing, and Recovery testing.

Whilst no direct line management duties are expected, the role holder will provide support to junior members of the team and be expected to have basic people administration and management experience to a level that they can provide cover Non-Functional Lead should the need/opportunity arise.

Your Responsibilities

  • Creating and documenting comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Estimating, prioritising, planning and coordinating quality testing activities.
  • Testing;
    • The resilience of software to recover from downtimes and chaotic conditions
    • Backup and replication strategies to prevent loss of data
    • The stability and degree to which users can depend on the system during operation
    • The performance and scaling mechanisms of the system with a projected increase in: User traffic, data volume, transaction and frequency counts, DB requests/s etc
    • The extent to which software systems can handle capacity, quantity and response time
    • The flexibility of systems and ease for apps to work in different HW/SW configurations
    • Portability and reusability of software systems to be transferred and converted
    • The modules and components of applications in isolation and integrated
  • Analysing requirements to identify service model and forecasted usage.
  • Implementing datasets to support performance and fail-over tests.
  • Overseeing deployment and system packaging process by coordinating with test leads.
  • Identifying potential issues and escalating to team lead or principal.
  • Recognising routine tasks as learning opportunities and seeking ways to improve/automate.
  • Logging test executions and tracking defects.
  • Supporting the investigation and troubleshooting of issues and non-conforming software.
  • Tracking quality assurance metrics around defects.

Your Experience

Does this sound like you?

  • 4+ years of experience as a NF Tester or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of non-functional testing, defect tracking systems, and Quality Assurance process
  • Strong knowledge of using software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Strong scripting experience in JMeter
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and cases
  • Hands-on experience with black box testing and integrations
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, and cloud computing principles.
  • Familiar with queueing and data stream systems (Rabbit MQ).
  • Good knowledge with Operating Systems, especially Linux.
  • Database interrogation skills: Oracle, DB2, Cassandra, Redis, and MySQL.
  • Ability to design regression scripts, execute them and report accurately.
  • Understanding of API calls (SOAP/REST) and JSON structures
  • Basic interaction with FTP and XML Structures
  • Familiarity analysing application performance with tools like AppDynamics
