URL for Applications:Apply HereSalary:£41,127 - £45,519 per annum

The starting salary for this role is £41,127 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This role is offered as a 24-month secondment or fixed-term contract opportunity. Though the office base is in Godalming, we support flexible working and you will have the opportunity to spend some of your week working from home.

Join us in creating a greener future – we have a new climate planning officer role that will be pivotal in reducing the impacts of climate change from Surrey’s new developments.

Working collaboratively with 11 Boroughs and Districts, you will support the development and implementation of Local Plans that contain strong carbon and sustainability policies.

Enabling a greener future is one of the Council’s four strategic priorities, delivered through our highly ambitious Climate Change Delivery Plan.  Buildings in Surrey produce over 3M tonnes of carbon per year, so minimising the carbon burden from new developments is critical.

The main task will be to support the creation of climate-compatible policy guidance, including the development of content, managing the governance process, and commissioning technical support if needed. Your knowledge of the planning system and well developed leadership and collaborative skills will enable you to build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, manage project risks and provide high quality, evidence-based work.

Based within the Waverley Borough Council’s planning office and supported by Surrey County Council’s Greener Futures and planning teams, you will work closely with our Senior Climate Change Officer. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and collaborative team.
