You’ll be someone who has been enjoying writing about TVs, home audio, appliances or other related home tech, as well as offering content and insights for our new smart home channel. You’ll also be helping the EIC with some sub-editing and deputy duties across commercial and editorial projects. 

We also need someone who is as passionate about developing new voices as we are – we want to give opportunities to all writers, regardless of background, and we need you to join us on helping make them find their style.

Main Responsibilities
  • Writing world-class, cutting-edge content around Fitness Tech and Smart Home  

  • Aiding the EIC in developing commercial and editorial projects and hitting traffic targets with great content  

  • Developing and editing staff writers’ work to uphold the standards of excellence  

  • Consistently researching and developing new ideas to help Saga Media’s target audience, with a key focus on representation on the site  

  • Working with newsletter EIC, video and social team to develop content as necessary 

  • Working with the managing editor to run an effective reviews program  

  • Holding and participating in regular content planning meetings with your team and the wider site staff as necessary  

  • Being a senior voice and a kind ear for more junior staff.  

  • Furthering an already-bristling black book of key contacts – whether from brands, experts or PRs, you’ll be in the know and able to rustle up great interviews and comment at will  

  • Ensuring news output is targeted and on point within your team  

The Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years at editor level or equivalent role 

  • Proven development of voice  

  • Experience working in well-known media organisations  

  • Deep, expert industry passion  

  • Experience with workflow systems  

  • A proven ability to sub work and spot systemic flaws
