The starting salary for this role is £46,634 per annum for a 36-hour working week.

IT&D has a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager to work on our Digital Programme that sits within the Council Transformation programme. The role is offered initially as an 18 months fixed-term contract/ secondment opportunity.

You will need to be able to define projects whilst being adaptable to ensure the scope of the project is always fit for purpose and in line with council priorities. In this role you will need to understand the real benefits when adopting new ways of working that are enabled through new digital technologies and be able to identify opportunities where this can be scaled across the council. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will be essential in order to engage, enthuse and manage these work-streams.

Working with Heads of Service, Technology Boards and other key stakeholders, you will develop and agree projects briefs, PIDs and project and resource plans, and be responsible for the day-to-day management of projects to ensure completion to agreed cost, time and quality criteria. This will often involve working and negotiating with external suppliers.

You must be an experienced PRINCE 2 Project Manager. As a recognised expert in the theory and practice of Project Management you will develop good Project Management expertise in others and enhance Project Management processes in the organisation.

You will manage virtual project teams and will therefore have good communication, engagement and organisation skills together with credibility in the role.

The post requires strong influencing skills and the ability to bring together project sponsors (usually senior managers), expert advisers, external consultants, contractors and end users to form an effective team focussed on delivery of the projects.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
