This role has a starting salary of £29,291 based on a 36 hour working week.

We have an exciting opportunity as a Contract Officer in our Land and Property Services team!

Surrey County Council is undergoing a period of unprecedented change and this role will be an important part of the ongoing transformation, taking advantage of a change in approach to service efficiency, performance and management delivery and to improve our customer facing approach.

About the Service

Land and Property Services has responsibility for extensive portfolios of operational and non-operational premises, including office buildings, libraries, fire stations, rural land, care homes and many other types of property. Our diverse service delivers everything 'Property' designing new buildings, managing, maintaining and adapting existing buildings, acquiring and selling land and property and managing tenancies, leases, and other agreements.

About the Role

This role is responsible for supporting our Contract Manager and Senior Contract Officer in monitoring and reporting of our term contractors’ service delivery. The role holder will need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and innovative thinking in a fast-paced environment.

The main responsibility for the role is to monitor and report on the performance of our term contractors including carrying out site audits; ensuring that contracted services are being carried out in accordance with the agreed specifications.

The ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation and external partners, both in writing and verbally are key to this role. You will work closely with your fellow Contract colleagues to ensure that monthly financial deadlines are met, site audits are conducted and value for money is achieved through benchmarking and KPI controls. You will also be involved in contract administration, non-compliance notices and assisting with meeting agendas and minutes.

The new Contract Team are part of the new structure which will make improvements to the service provided by Land and Property. Working closely with the Contract Manager and Senior Contract Officer, you will need to be able to work flexibly across Surrey's corporate portfolio as and when required, therefore, ability to travel is a requirement of the role.

About You

  • Fantastic organisational skills
  • Adept at problem solving and decision making
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office especially Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of the contract management processes
