Our Corporate Services segment at Sodexo have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Manager to join the team based at one of our contracts in Wisbech. Your focus will be to coordinate, control and record all waste removed from site. 

This role will suit an experienced Waste Manager keen to develop and support/deputise for the General Services Manager.  We are looking for a great communicator and people manager who can not only utilize their strong waste management experience but also be happy supporting the GSM with managing the team. Excellent organisation skills with a good knowledge of IT will be key to your success. We are looking for someone with a hands on approach and a can do attitude.

Package Description

£25,000pa to £28,000pa + excellent benefits

Location: Wisbech, PE13

Permanent

Work Pattern – 40 hrs pw Monday to Friday with flexibility covering this 24/7 operation

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage all the onsite waste team including the night shift
  • Manage all training of the onsite team
  • Ensure waste is disposed of in a cost effective, complaint manner
  • Ensure risk assessments and SOPs are up to date and operational
  • Completion of paperwork requested by the client
  • Maintain Sodexo’s waste management
  • Arrangement of transportation
  • To deal efficiently and effectively with any requests / concerns / complaints from client
  • Carry out duty of care checks on compliance file
  • Maximise the profitability of the operation by managing costs and increasing the sales, working with the site GSM.
  • Utilise systems, such as Kronus, Eprofit.
  • Implement, maintain, and communicate to employees the client, and Sodexo standards and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health, and safety, in order to ensure compliance is adhered to at all times
  • Recruit, induct, motivate, manage, train, and develop all employees
  • Carry out operational shifts and support other areas of the business as required
  • Continuous focus on the highest employee engagement and team positive safety culture
  • Providing HSE monthly reports to reflect the safety performance on site

The Ideal Candidate
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • To be able to communicate effectively – both written and verbal
  • Understand the needs of using a computer for systems input.
  • Good baseline understanding of waste management operations
  • Experience of delivering waste operations in a busy factory environment
  • Experience of effectively and proactively managing sub-contractors
  • Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to improve productivity and waste management performance
  • FLT License
