Role Summary:

We have an exciting new position for a Renewals Construction Underwriter to join our Construction department, reporting to the Renewals Construction Manager for Thames Underwriting.

Location:

Mainly office-based role from either Leeds or Leigh-On-Sea, with occasional visits to brokers and or insurers when required. However, due to social distancing measures, temporary remote working from home in place.

Purpose of the Role:

  • Underwriting of renewal risks under a variety of delegated binding authorities
  • Manage and ensure complete documents produced and recorded with regard to renewal
  • Handle mid-term adjustments
  • Negotiate renewals and proactively chase renewal confirmation
  • Maintain a profitable book of business
  • Maintain relationships with brokers, insurers and other business partners
  • Provide support to junior members including referrals

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ideally CII qualified or working towards.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ proven underwriting experience, preferably in Casualty and Construction lines including Combined Liability, Contractors All Risks and Excess of Loss.

Person Specification:

  • Proficient knowledge of Casualty underwriting principles and practice.
  • Good risk analysis and technical skills.
  • Ability to build relationships.
