Your responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team to be based in Birmingham. You will be the first port of call for all HR generalist advice, support and take a proactive approach to ER case management. Our HR Team, which is made up of 7, is part way through a very exciting journey of innovation, digitalisation and overall ensuring we have engaged and happy employees. thyssenkrupp Materials UK (tkMUK) operates a network of 9 sites in England and Northern Ireland which are; Preston, Darton, Witton, Central Warehouse & Fabrications (Cradley Heath), Milton Keynes, Swindon, and 2 in Belfast. You will be supporting our managers virtually over email, teams, phone calls and also by visiting the sites regularly.

Your main duties will be:

  • Responsible for the proactive management of ER case work, providing timely advise to line management;
  • Co-ordinate and support regular employee pulse surveys, collating data and supporting improvement plans
  • Monitor, review and update HR policies and procedures in line with legislative and Company changes encompassing the tkMUK values.  Put forward recommendations from research and best practice
  • Support the development of providing HR analytics to the business- providing key data trends and insights, using the HR information systems to access and compile data
  • Support the Resourcing Partner with recruitment of key roles within the business from job description to assessment centre design
  • Support the Learning and Development partner on delivering projects to the business;
  • Provide advice and play a major role in work reviews and change processes;
  • Identify development needs within stakeholder groups
  • Support the implementation of HR systems and act as a super user
  • Manage employee relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have and managing their expectations;
  • Support our people managers with capability scenarios, including grievance and disciplinary
  • Drive the business performance in relation to the organisation’s objectives
  • Assist in delivering business communication strategy

Your profile

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Proven work experience as an Senior HR advisor, or similar role;
  • Ability to advise and work with senior members of staff;
  • Hands-on experience with IT programmes and HR systems;
  • Good influencing skills;
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business;
  • Analytical - ability to gather data, interpret and present findings;
  • Experience of managing complex ER cases;
  • Good understanding of the employee life cycle;
  • Up to date knowledge of key employment legislation;
  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Driven and determined
  • Practical and logical; able to solve problems quickly
  • Pragmatic and adaptable to change
  • Driving licence and own vehicle

Desirable experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Experience of digitalising and launching HR systems and processes
  • Experience of working with a multisite business
  • Experience of working with Northern Ireland
